How does it make eTRACS work?
Rule Engines are software components that separate business rules from application codes.
In eTRACS, business rules include the different rules and conditions found in the tax revenue code which govern the assessment and computation of taxes.
The implementation of Rule Engine allows end-users to frequently modify existing business rules even without any IT intervention. This makes the software an appropriate solution as tax laws vary from time to time.
The Rule Engine
As shown in the figure above, a normal transaction using the Rule Engine would compose of:
* The tax assessor receives data from a business applicant and sends it to the rule engine.
* The rule engine processes the data and computes the business applicant’s taxes and sends the result back to the tax assessor.
* Rule authors monitor tax conditions and make changes whenever necessary by replacing entries in the rule engine.
